You’re reacting to layers of hurt that were already there long before this dinner invite, so it makes sense it felt like an explosion moment, but showing up or not showing up doesn’t actually change the dynamic between them. If you go, keep it strictly professional, talk to staff, eat, leave, no emotional engagement. If you don’t go, just decline and don’t explain. The mistake is trying to make him understand why it hurts, he’s already shown he won’t meet you there. Protect your own boundaries instead of trying to control where he takes her or whether she appears. Treat it like a work function, not part of your personal life, even if emotionally it still feels tied together.
